Tigers land big transfer target on defensive line

Auburn currently sits at No. 4 in 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings.

Head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag]’s big run in the transfer portal continues.

Transfer prospect Justin Rogers announced on Thursday that he intends to transfer to the Tigers from Kentucky for the 2023 season. Rogers will have two years of eligibility with Auburn.

Rogers had his best year with the Kentucky Wildcats in 2022, making 36 total tackles and getting half a sack. He entered the portal on Jan. 3 and has been busy since, taking visits with Alabama, LSU and Auburn. He eventually committed to The Plains and becomes yet another high-profile transfer target for Hugh Freeze. Auburn is No. 4 in 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings, sitting just behind Lincoln Riley’s USC, Deion Sanders’ Colorado and Mike Norvell’s Florida State. The Tigers are the highest-ranked SEC team, so it will be interesting to see how the team’s new contributors stand up against Auburn’s 2023 schedule.

Rogers will not face his former team in his first year with the Tigers. Auburn’s SEC East opponents are Vanderbilt and Georgia in 2023. While there will not be a revenge game, Rogers will have plenty of time to prove himself and raise his draft stock while he’s on the roster.
