Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are betting favorites in The Match over Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas

Yeah, the team with a combined 19 majors is favored to win.

Capital One’s The Match is returning Dec. 10, and for the first time in four previous team formats, it’ll be all professional golfers competing.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are set to take on Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth, and to nobody’s surprise, the team with a combined 19 majors is favored to win.

Woods and McIlroy hold -135 odds at BetMGM. Thomas and Spieth have +110 odds, even as four of their combined five major victories are more recent than any of Woods or McIlroy’s.

However The Match goes, it should be fun to watch even without the NFL or NBA stars that typically team with the golfers.

Woods is the only of the four golfers to have previously competed in The Match.

In 2018, he played a solo round against Phil Michelson in the first edition, and in 2020, he teamed with Peyton Manning to play against Mickelson and Tom Brady.

The Match has been played twice a year since 2020. In the first of 2022, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers defeated Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes in June. That was the first edition of The Match to not include a professional golfer.
