Thunder vs. Pelicans: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

New Orleans is favored to beat the Thunder, but Oklahoma City has a good chance to beat the one-win Pelicans.

The Oklahoma City Thunder play the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on Tipico Sportsbook.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. Central Time and can be seen on Bally Sports Oklahoma.

Oklahoma City, now with a record of 3-6, is coming of consecutive wins and two days of rest. Meanwhile, the Pelicans are 1-10 and may be the worst team in the league, particularly with injuries to their two stars.

Thunder vs. Pelicans notable injuries:

Brandon Ingram is questionable for New Orleans with a hip injury, and Zion Williamson remains out with a long-term injury.

Thunder rookie point guard Tre Mann is considered day-to-day with a nose injury but has no new designation as of Wednesday morning.

Advice and prediction

The following comes with the assumption that Brandon Ingram will not play:

I thought the Thunder would be favored this game. As such, this may be the first game I would encourage bettors to put money on them winning. If you’re not confident betting on a Thunder win, which is understandable, I think covering the spread would still be safe.

The Pelicans haven’t scored more than 100 points since October. Their roster is similarly young like the Thunder and, with international play considered, perhaps less experienced. Over the last six games, all losses, they have been outscored by 15 points, on average.

One caution, though: The Thunder trailed by double-digits in all three of their wins. The comebacks — specifically the ones against the Lakers — may have come in part from disrespect from opponents assuming they were the better team. The Pelicans can make no such claim to being better and, as the home team, will have their audience in the stands for a game they should feel relatively confident about winning.

I wouldn’t bet your paycheck on the Thunder winning, but this is the first game in which I like their chances. Even if Ingram does play, I could absolutely see Oklahoma City pulling off the win, or at least covering the spread (which would be heightened if Ingram is ruled active). With two days off since the last game, Oklahoma City has had more than enough time to prepare and try to rectify the poor first quarters that have gotten the team into so many holes this season.

Prediction: Thunder 107, Pelicans 99
