Advice and prediction

The Thunder are on the second game of a back-to-back. After wrapping up last night’s game around 5:30 p.m., they had to travel to Portland and settle in before managing any basketball activities.

In their third game in four days, I’d be worried that Oklahoma City will be a bit weary after so much play and travels. Portland is also on the second night of a back-to-back, but they didn’t play between the Jan. 18 loss to the San Antonio Spurs and the Jan. 24 win over the New York Knicks. They should still be relatively fresh.

What is promising is that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been monstrous in the paint and Blazers center Enes Kanter is not particularly known for his defense. Gilgeous-Alexander could go off; but, as Friday showed, even a 30-plus-point performance doesn’t always equal a win.

I’m not confident enough the Thunder can hold off both Lillard and McCollum while finding enough energy to attack the boards, defend the post and score for themselves. I wouldn’t bet on them, though they have certainly played up to competition at other points this year.

Prediction: Blazers 111, Thunder 104
