Three-star point guard Rowan Brumbaugh puts Texas in top six schools

Rowan Brumbaugh cut his list down to six schools this week.

After landing a commitment from five-star shooting guard Anthony Black, Texas and Chris Beard are searching for another guard to add to the class. Some elite prospects are out there but one under-the-radar point guard could be a viable option.

Rowan Brumbaugh is a three-star out of Northfield, MA. Both Kansas and Texas offered him within two days of each other in the month of July, showing two of the best coaches in the country are interested.

On Wednesday, Brumbaugh cut his down to six schools, with both of the Big 12 powerhouses making the cut. Maryland, Miami, Northwestern, and Oregon make up the rest of the list.

In an interview with On3, Brumbaugh sat down and talked through each of the schools to make his top six. Check out what he had to say about Texas:

“I like Chris Beard a lot,” Brumbaugh said. “He’s about everything I’m about… winning and just getting the job done and being tough. He’s just a basketball junkie. He has a chip on his shoulder like me. He’s done a lot with his guards at Texas Tech, and now he’s at Texas. That’s an awesome program, too.”

According to On3, the three-star point guard has made official visits to Maryland and Northwestern. Brumbaugh is working on setting up the other three.

While it seems like Texas will prioritize other targets before putting on the full-court press for Brumbaugh, developing a relationship with a rising start is always a positive. His 6-foot-4, 180-pound frame checks out for a modern-day point guard, being able to distribute while getting his own buckets when needed.
