Three takeaways from Oklahoma’s 94-90 overtime loss against Oklahoma State in Norman

Three immediate takeaways from Oklahoma’s 94-90 overtime loss against Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon in Norman.

Beginning of a skid?

After the loss on Tuesday night to Kansas State, it seemed logical to expect Oklahoma to come out with a high sense of urgency to respond with a big performance on their home floor to get things right back to the winning side.

While they did come out locked in and playing with great intensity, so did Oklahoma State. In this type of rivalry game, this late in the season, everyone had to know both teams were going to give this their absolute best shot and on this day – the Cowboys best shot was just a little bit better.

It stills seems premature to say the sky is falling for the Sooners here but there will be some understandable panic at this point. Dropping two in a row as the favorite isn’t obviously something you want to have to deal with at this point of the season. The question now is is this the beginning of a legitimate skid at the worst possible time, or can they turn things around quickly with not much time to do it.

The rematch on Monday night has now become the biggest game of Oklahoma’s season.
