Three reasons why Oklahoma basketball beat TCU 83-63

Oklahoma put its most complete together for a big Big 12 win Saturday. Here are three reasons why the Sooners prevailed against TCU.

A big win for Oklahoma (12-5, 3-2 Big 12) and Lon Kruger.

The Sooners put together their most complete game of the season, beating TCU (12-5, 3-2) from wire-to-wire 83-63. Brady Manek was the star of the show as Kristian Doolittle had an off day.

Oklahoma’s defense was good enough and Kruger got contributions from everyone.

Here are three reasons why the Sooners prevailed against TCU.

BRADY MANEK HAS ARRIVED

Oklahoma has been missing Brady Manek’s 3-point shooting the last few games, but he showed up on Saturday.

The Sooners got 31 points out of him, including 7-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Both of those numbers are career highs for the junior forward.

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE

TCU shot a whopping 38 percent from the floor, which includes a porous 22 percent from three. Oklahoma’s defense remains a tough test for opponents.

YOUNG DUO GROWIN UP

Freshman point guard De’Vion Harmon was inserted back into the starting lineup against Kansas on Tuesday. He delivered, especially from three, in his return. That carried into Saturday as he scored 10 points and knocked down two open 3-pointers to keep the TCU defense respectable on him.

Freshman counterpart Jalen Hill continues to give Lon Kruger good minutes on the bench. He finished with only four points and two rebounds, but Hill continues to be active on both ends of the floor and make things happen.
