Three Longhorns listed among top available players in the transfer portal

According to 247Sports, three Longhorns were listed among the top available names in the transfer portal.

The transfer portal has become just as crucial as National Signing Day.

Across the college football landscape, teams are either losing talented players to the portal or pulling talent from it. Texas is no exception. When you hire a new head coach who chooses to bring in his own assistants, it’s not a surprise to see players decide to take their talents elsewhere.

247Sports generated a list of the top available players that are currently in the NCAA transfer portal. Two Longhorns were mentioned among the position group rankings with another falling under the ‘other’ options.

Keaontay Ingram:

What 247Sports says

Ingram is in a similar situation as Charbonnet. As a sophomore in 2019, Ingram ran for 853 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 5.9 yards per carry. His share of the touches dropped considerably in 2020, however, as Ingram missed multiple games with an injury and Texas’ backfield got more crowded. Still, Ingram is a quality Power Five back. He won’t lack for options.

Jalen Green

What 247Sports says

Green entered Texas with immense hype and played well at times. Ultimately, though, he started just eight of the 30 games he played in Austin. Green remains an immense talent and perhaps can alter the course of his career with a fresh start.

The other named listed is Ayodele Adeoye. The talented linebacker has had an issue with staying healthy, but a fresh start with a new program may just be what the doctor ordered.
