Tom Brady will always be remembered as the sixth-round pick who turned the New England Patriots into six-time Super Bowl champions during his 20-year run with the team.
But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and Brady’s tenure in New England did just that this offseason, much to the chagrin of Patriots fans everywhere. Fortunately, their loss was the Bucs’ gain, as Brady chose to make Tampa Bay his new team. A roster filled with talent on both sides of the ball has the Bucs thinking not just postseason berth, but Super Bowl berth. Plus, Super Bowl LV will take place at Raymond James Stadium, meaning the stage is set for the Bucs to have a magical 2020 season, with Brady the one waving the wand and leading the charge.
Even though Brady has yet to officially suit up for the Bucs, aside from getting his No. 12 jersey from Chris Godwin, he’s already been dubbed the greatest free agent signing in team history. And regardless of what happens in Tampa Bay, Brady will now forever be linked to the Bucs franchise. Which is why the below picture takes on a whole new meaning now.
The picture was taken during a preseason matchup between the Bucs and Patriots back in August of 2007. Brady and Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Brooks only squared off once in the regular season, back in 2005, when Brady’s Patriots beat Brooks and the Jon Gruden-coached Buccaneers 28-0 at Gillette Stadium. Brady was sacked only once in that game. Not by Brooks, but by Simeon Rice, who’d finish the year with 14.0 sacks.
I guess you can caption this picture, “Two of the greatest Buccaneers ever.”
