This Switzerland fan turned into the best meme after his team’s game-tying goal in Euro 2020

The duality of sports fandom, now in meme form.

Euro 2020 has been a rollercoaster of emotions for soccer fans over the last few weeks. We’ve seen shocking ties between rivals and embarrassing own-goals, but maybe nothing will compare to what Switzerland just did to their fans.

On Monday, during the first knockout rounds of Euro 2020, Switzerland was down 3-1 after the 75th minute on Paul Pogba’s goal in the second half. Facing down elimination, Switzerland was able to get within one on Haris Seferovic’s second of the game at 81 minutes, then the team was able to tie the game 3-3 just before the 90th minute to get to extra time.

It’s an incredible comeback for the Swiss in one of the best matches of the tournament we’ve seen yet.

That brings us to this one Swiss fan who has now captured the heart of soccer fans everywhere, as he was originally shown on the broadcast in the final minute of play in clear agony and heartbreak at the team’s likely loss. Then, after Switzerland’s tying goal, the broadcast panned back to the fan, who was suddenly shirtless and screaming in absolute joy.

It’s an incredible showcase of the duality of sports, captured just mere minutes apart.

Of course, as always, Twitter had a blast turning this fan into a new meme.
