The Georgia Bulldogs are losing a number of pieces in the tight end room this offseason. Veteran tight end Ryland Goede has entered the transfer portal. He is likely looking for more playing time.
Georgia still has excellent 2023 tight end recruits and returns Brock Bowers and Oscar Delp.
Goede will have two years of eligibility wherever he decides to transfer to. The 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end stuck with Georgia football throughout the national championship run to become a back-to-back national champion.
He faces significant competition for playing time at Georgia, so his transfer is understandable. Of course, Goede could still return to Athens.
Goede is a former four-star recruit and was a member of the class of 2019. Goede, who expects to graduate from Georgia, has played in 15 games over the past two seasons.
Junior tight end Darnell Washington is expected to enter the 2023 NFL draft. Georgia tight ends Arik Gilbert and Brett Seither are already in the transfer portal.
Goede announced his intentions to transfer via Twitter:
A degree and two national championships later. What a blessing and honor that my younger self only dreamed of. pic.twitter.com/Hz4as9mpbb
