Theo Pinson working through trials of second season in NBA

Theo Pinson received significant minutes early on in 2019-20. Yet he has barely played for the Brooklyn Nets since the calendar turned over.

Theo Pinson played in his first G League game of the 2019-20 season on Wednesday after he was assigned to the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s affiliate, on Tuesday. He scored 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting (2-for-3 from 3-point territory) in his 30 minutes of action throughout Long Island’s 143-108 routing of the South Bay Lakers.

Wednesday’s game is only the second time Pinson has played in a game, NBA or G League, since January 7.

Prior to his game with Long Island, Pinson had seen just over 18 minutes of game action since January 4. But throughout much of November and December, he was playing double-digit minutes on the regular.

The Nets getting healthy has impacted Pinson’s minutes, though that doesn’t make the situation any easier.

But he told Chris Milholen of Nets Daily he’s had help working through the trying moments:

It’s been up and down. Just listening to the vets. It is not going to be highs the whole season. It’s a long season. Just take everything and embrace it and I’m always telling myself that the Lord won’t put me in situations I couldn’t handle. I just try to remember that.

Long Island is back in action on Friday when Tacko Fall and the Maine Red Claws (Celtics) visit at 7 p.m.
