Despite Monday night’s result that saw Baylor take Gonzaga to the woodshed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament national championship, what happened on Saturday in Indianapolis won’t be quickly forgotten.
In an instant classic between Gonzaga and UCLA, Jalen Suggs hit a buzzer-beater from just inside half-court to send the Bulldogs to the national championship game.
What you might not realize is that Suggs was one-time a Notre Dame football recruit and that he even took an unofficial visit to South Bend back in 2018 and was listed as a three-star dual-threat quarterback prospect by 247Sports.
Had a great unofficial at the University of Notre Dame‼️☘️ @NDFootball pic.twitter.com/AOScIRe3rT

For what it’s worth, Suggs posted that picture the day after No. 3 Notre Dame beat Florida State 42-13 on senior night to improve to 10-0.
That wasn’t enough to get Suggs to attend Notre Dame but one can’t help but wonder how differently this basketball season may have gone for the Irish had the McDonald’s All-American chosen school in South Bend.
