The Texans have been clutch in close games in 2019

The Houston Texans have been excellent in one-score games in 2019, such to the point if the standings were flipped, they would be 5-10 on the year.

How good have the Houston Texans been in close games in 2019? So good that if their record were flipped in one-score games, they would be at 5-10 as opposed to 10-5 with the AFC South title in hand.

According to Reddit user, Comme-Des-Filles, who rearranged the standings for both the AFC and NFC based on all 32 teams’ records in close games, the Texans would be the fourth-worst team in the conference.

The Texans have gone 8-3 in one-score games this season.

What the flip in standings prove is that the Texans have done an excellent job of winning close games. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is tied with Josh Allen and Russell Wilson for the most game-winning drives in the NFL with five. He is also tied with Gardner Minshew for the fourth-most fourth quarter comebacks in the league with three.

For the Texans, it is encouraging to know that they have had fortune on their side in winning close ballgames. However, in the playoffs, executing comebacks isn’t as likely as it is in the regular season. Houston will have to start faster in postseason games, a problem they have had all season long.
