Ever since the Sphere opened in Las Vegas earlier last year, it has basically taken out the Vegas skyline with animations that don’t look real (but totally are).
So, with Vegas set to host the first Super Bowl in the city’s history, it was obvious that the Sphere would be in on the theme. Come Monday, we saw exactly what 580,000 square feet of LED displays had in store for the lead-up to Super Bowl 58.
The Sphere transformed into giants helmets for the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero took a photo of both animations on Monday morning in Vegas.

There’s something jarring about those bright colors against a seemingly grayscale Vegas on a cloudy day. But at the same time, it’s pretty awesome. We’ll have to see what the Sphere does the rest of the week (and during the game). But in the meantime, fans had thoughts on the helmet animations.
