Texas A&M (5-4, 3-3 SEC) is coming off one of their more heartbreaking losses this season, falling to the 10th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels 38-35 after an unprecedented second-half offensive surge gave the Aggies momentum in the fourth quarter, only to fall short once again in the final minutes.
While Texas A&M is way on the outside looking in, the SEC as a whole continued to represent in the newest US LBM Coaches Poll, including the Ole Miss Rebels, who kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive after escaping the Aggies’ and avoiding OT.
The US LBM Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of 63 head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on, down to one point for 25th.
Within Texas A&M’s four losses, three were in one-score games, as it remains clear that this isn’t a bad team, just a group that has yet to play a complete game in SEC play. Next Saturday, the Aggies will return to College Station to face the unranked Mississippi State Bulldogs to secure bowl eligibility for the first time in two seasons.
Making a massive jump in the rankings, the 17th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys are fresh off their big win vs. now 16th-ranked Oklahoma. At the same time, the feisty Arizona Wildcats have found themselves in the Top 25 after defeating UCLA on Saturday night.
Elsewhere, the top five remain unchanged, with Georgia (No. 1), Michigan (No. 2), Ohio State (No. 3), Florida State (No. 4), and Washington (No. 5) holding firm.
