The Rock tells Cody Rhodes ‘f–k your story,’ says he made pro wrestling cool again

Need a recap on how WrestleMania 40 has taken shape? The Rock has your back, at least from his POV.

You have to hand it to The Rock: Whether this WrestleMania 40 journey he’s a part of was planned from the start or not, he’s jumped in with booth feet to embrace his role in it.

As the latest proof, please consider that he cut a 21-minute promo today and dropped it on social media. It’s a recap of everything that has gone on between him, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes in 2024 to date … from The Rock’s own perspective, of course.

That means selling the idea that he had an “agreement” with Reigns to face off in the main event of WrestleMania 40, and that he told Rhodes he could always “finish your story another time.” And he claims Cody agreed.

He goes on to reveal what he said to Rhodes during the SmackDown in Birmingham where it appeared Cody was stepping aside from his own WrestleMania dream, saying he told Rhodes that they should do Rock vs. Reigns for both of their late fathers.

On top of that, The Rock claims he had no problem with Rhodes changing his mind to challenge Reigns himself, but rather that he didn’t say anything to The Rock ahead of time — and that he trash talked the Samoan wrestling elders.

Bonus points to The Rock for working in the news that he owns the trademark and IP rights to all of his catchphrases, pointing to Busted Open Dave LaGreca as an example of the “Cody Crybabies,” aiming some venom at Seth Rollins and insinuating that the WWE-Netflix deal would not have happened without him. This is a man who knows exactly what he’s doing.

That goes even more for the end of the video, where he says to Rhodes “f–k your story.”

(For his part, Rollins offered a much, much shorter rebuttal.)

As luck planning would have it, The Rock is scheduled for SmackDown tonight in Glendale, Ariz. Good timing for something like this, and whatever happened to set ‘Mania on its current course, you can’t say he’s not locked in on it now.
