The Green Bay Packers look to have gotten an assist from the officiating crew on a key 44-yard gain at the end of the third quarter of Thursday night’s home stand against the Detroit Lions.
As Green Bay was mounting a fierce comeback on Detroit, it looked like quarterback Jordan Love got a big pass off to wide receiver Jayden Reed after the clock for the third quarter had hit 0:00.
If the refs had caught the time on the clock once the play started, it would’ve been blown dead, and Green Bay would’ve still been on their side of the field to start the fourth quarter.
Instead, the Packers got into the red zone and dodged the play not counting because of the clock.

NFL fan response was mixed as to how this play should’ve gone, but it really looks clear that the Packers got away with one here.
While we may never know what exactly constitutes as a catch in the NFL, we can surely all agree that a play should be called dead if the ball isn’t snapped by the time the quarter clock hits zero.
Right? … Right?
