It’s official. Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 25-year-old quarterback officially requested a trade Thursday, making it even more likely that we’ve seen the last of him in a Texans uniform.
And with that request, Watson immediately made himself the most valuable trade asset in NFL history. The team that eventually lands him will not only be getting an ascending and transcendent talent at the sport’s most important position, but they’ll also be getting him at a discount. With his guaranteed money still being pinned on Houston, Watson will cost his new team $146.5 million over the next five years. That $29.3 million annual average would rank 11th among quarterbacks, right behind Ryan Tannehill.
So, yeah. There should be a lot of teams calling up the Texans over the next few weeks. Knowing that, we’ve ranked every NFL team based on how eager they should be to trade for Watson this offseason. We’ll start at the bottom of the list…
