The New York City media won’t let Ime Udoka off the hook if the Brooklyn Nets hire him

The former Brooklyn assistant has cover due to legal issues in the Celtics organization he will not enjoy in New York.

If the Brooklyn Nets do go ahead and end up hiring away suspended Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka after doing whatever passes as vetting by the organization these days that could be done in the brief time that has passed after the Nets fired Steve Nash from the same role, it will not be the sort of media environment Udoka has existed in since the news broke of his transgressions.

Still opaque in the Boston media, we know the former Nets assistant broke the rules regarding intra-organization romance, but also made ‘unwanted comments’ bad enough that the Celtics are not even seeking compensation for a coach that got them to within two wins of an NBA title.

It’s safe to say that the New York media will not be so open to letting Brooklyn and Udoka dodge the press regarding what said vetting discovered.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “A-List” podcast recently broke down how the media dynamic for Udoka might change radically in his new home if the Nets do hire him away.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear their takes.
