The new trailer for ‘Rise,’ Disney’s Giannis Antetokounmpo movie, looks awesome

This should be good.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s journey to the NBA was so remarkable that it was only a matter of time before they made a movie about his incredible success.

Not even 28 years old, Giannis is already an NBA Finals MVP, two-time NBA MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and six-time NBA All-Star. He and two of his brothers, Thanasis and Kostas, are all NBA champions.

The first of what could be many movies about the Antetokounmpo brothers, Rise, is a Disney+ original film expected to release on June 24, 2022.

You can watch the trailer, which came out earlier on Tuesday, below:

The trailer begins with real-life footage chronicling the success that the Antetokounmpo brothers have had on the basketball court.

It then cuts to Giannis (Uche Agada) and his brother Thanasis (Ral Agad) playing on a pick-up basketball court. We also see Giannis’ father, Charles (Dayo Okeniyi), helping to encourage his son’s development.

Based on the trailer, the film will cover the struggles the Antetokounmpo faced with immigration and poverty. It will also show the power of intense work ethic and staying together as a family.

There are also some beautiful shots of Greece, where Giannis is from, sprinkled throughout the trailer. We later see how far Antetokounmpo has come, including him getting selected in the NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
