The five most important players on the 2020 Wisconsin Badgers

The 2020 college football season is right around the corner and teams around the country have began their in-person preseason programs…

No. 4: Safety Eric Burrell

Eric Burrell returns to Madison for the 2020 season along with what is a veteran and extremely talented secondary group.

Like No. 5 on this list, safety isn’t necessarily the most important position on the football field but for the Badgers, Burrell’s talent and veteran presence roaming the middle of the field is irreplaceable.

The senior finished last season with 55 total tackles, good for No. 5 on the team, two sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Especially after losing Chris Orr and Zack Baun to the NFL, Jim Leonhard will need Burrell more than ever in the run game and to help linebacker Jack Sanborn quarterback the defense.
