The five most important players on the 2020 Wisconsin Badgers

The 2020 college football season is right around the corner and teams around the country have began their in-person preseason programs…

No. 1: Quarterback Jack Coan

No surprise here. The most important position on the field is quarterback and even if you’re the Badgers and want to run the ball for 200+ yards every game, you need good quarterback play if you want to win football games.

I’m not going to come close to the Graham Mertz v Jack Coan debate with this because it’s about which individuals will be the most important to the team’s success. I don’t think anybody would deny that if Coan takes another step forward and has a good season, the Badgers could be in for a special ride.

So, there’s the five: Watson or Berger at running back, Burrell at safety, Van Lanen at left tackle, Sanborn at linebacker and Coan at quarterback.

If those five players play well, the Badgers will have a great season. If not, we might be taken back to the 2018 campaign.
