Bears fans have been praying in recent weeks for the team to somehow work a deal with the Seahawks to bring Russell Wilson to Chicago to save the team’s disastrous QB situation and lead the franchise to a Super Bowl.
Well, on Tuesday the Bears went out and got themselves a QB, but it wasn’t Wilson. Instead… it was Andy Dalton, who they signed to a one-year, $10 million deal with incentives that could bring it to $13 million.
Yikes.
The veteran Dalton, who played in Dallas last year and went 4-5 as a starter after Dak Prescott’s injury, is nowhere near Wilson’s status.
The Bears did apparently try to get Wilson but that’s not happening:
Chicago made "a very aggressive pursuit" of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, per sources, and the Bears were told that Seattle is not trading him at this time.
The Bears were one of four teams Wilson's agent named as a place of interest. Now Chicago has an agreement with Andy Dalton.

You could've had Andy Dalton last year.
But you couldn't wait to give up a 4th rd pick when you lacked draft capital. Now you couldn't wait to spend $10-13 million on Dalton when you lack cap space. pic.twitter.com/cVEhNbALEH— Silvy (@WaddleandSilvy) March 16, 2021
ANDY DALTON ARE YOU KIDDING ME !?!??!?

– Traded up for Mitch Trubisky
– Traded a 4th for Nick Foles + his contract.
– Signed Andy DaltonNot the greatest.

Here’s why you don’t give Andy Dalton $10 million: he stinks.
