The Athletic’s 7-round mock starts Bills with defense

The Athletic sees the Buffalo Bills offense as a product that’s close enough to a finished one in their latest seven-round mock draft.

86. Buffalo Bills – Darrell Taylor, Edge, Tennessee

In Taylor, the Bills would add a developmental pass rusher. Taylor tallied 19.5 sacks throughout his four years at Tennessee, notching a career-high 8.5 in his senior season. He’d be a rotational pass-rusher in his rookie year, spelling the likes of Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison immediately before ultimately taking on a bigger role in the defense. Those two are a formidable pair in 2020, but are also both over 30, so the Bills need a youthful addition to this group.

128. Buffalo Bills – Joshua Kelley, RB, UCLA

Kelley is a Senior Bowl standout and finally the Bills’ first selection on offense in The Athletic’s mock. At 5-foot-11, and 212 pounds, the Bills would get their complementary back in Kelley. Current No. 1 in Devin Singletary is a smaller, shifty back. Kelley is much closer to Frank Gore’s size than Singletary is.

Rounding out the Bills’ haul in The Athletic’s mock:

167. Buffalo Bills – Jacob Phillips, LB, LSU

188. Buffalo Bills (from CLE) – Jon Runyan, OT/G, Michigan

207. Buffalo Bills (from NE) – Antoine Brooks, DS, Maryland

239. Buffalo Bills (from MIN) – Michael Turk, PT, Arizona State

With the remaining for picks, the Bills address some depth competition on their roster and seemingly some special teams moves as well. That obvious one there is, is Turk, a punter, who actually put up a massive 25 reps on the bench press at the scouting combine.
