The Athletic sets up interesting matchup for LSU in its preseason bowl projections

This projection has the Tigers heading out west to face off against a strong Pac-12 opponent.

I mentioned in another article how some people just couldn’t seem to escape the SEC. This is another case of that.

Bo Nix (Auburn) and Dan Lanning (Georgia) both went from the southeast to the west coast, but according to The Athletic, the Oregon Ducks will be playing the LSU Tigers in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17th. The Ducks are coming off of a 10-4 season with a loss to Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl.

A lot of things have changed since last season, though. The Ducks have a new starting quarterback in Nix, who transferred from Auburn, and a new head coach in Lanning, who was the defensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs last season.

The Ducks start their season against the defending national champions this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. LSU may be in the same boat as Oregon, as the Tigers may start a transfer quarterback along with debuting a new head coach.

LSU starts its season against Florida State this Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
