The annoying Odell Beckham Jr. trade rumors will not go away despite them having no basis in reality

Even while laying low in the middle of the offseason, Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. cannot escape the minds of some NFL talking heads. A couple of noteworthy media pundits continue to try and stoke the fires about a possible trade involving Beckham.

None of this is coming from the Browns or Beckham himself. We here at Browns Wire are certainly not advocating or reporting any sort of trade talks. We’re merely presenting the viewpoint that some people refuse to let the (almost certain) non-story die.

Former NFL player Bart Scott, who has been beating this drum for some time, continues to insist Beckham is on the block. He titled at the Beckham windmill once again on his radio show this week.

“Just know you heard it here first,” Scott said via cleveland.com. “I’m telling you right now, Odell Beckham is on the trading block and it’s real right now.”

The former Steelers LB could not cite any source, not even anonymously.

This comes a week after Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio and Chris Simms hypothesized about a potential Beckham trade to the New England Patriots. To be fair to the Pro Football Talkers, they did mention the absurdity of the concept of Beckham playing under Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Our take

Cleveland isn’t used to having a marquee player that attracts national attention even in the offseason. This is par for the course for having high-profile players. Learn to tune it out as fans of more prominent teams have done with similar situations.
