The San Francisco 49ers pulled off one of the NFL Draft’s biggest no-no’s.
With only their second pick in the entire 2023 NFL Draft, the team picked Michigan kicker Jake Moody at No. 99.
As you can imagine, virtually nobody thinks taking a placekicker anytime earlier than, say, the fifth round is a major football crime.
Moody is the highest-selected kicker to go in the NFL Draft since Roberto Aguayo went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of Florida State in the second round of 2016’s draft.
That pick didn’t work out for the Bucs, as Aguayo only lasted a season in Tampa Bay.

Moody will have major pressure on him in the Bay Area to hit the ground running as the new starting kicker for the 49ers.
Let’s just say NFL fans had some thoughts on a kicker going this high in the draft.
