If you haven’t already had a chance to watch it, please do so before proceeding any further because there is a crazy good surprise all the way at the end and I do not want to be the one to ruin it for you.
The trailer for the ninth (yes, ninth) installment of the Fast and Furious franchise dropped Friday afternoon, offering up more than the usual spectacular car chases and stunts that fans have come to expect.
In addition to all the crazy stuff, like cars flying off cliffs and cars with rockets strapped to top, HAN IS BACK.
How is this possible? Who even knows, and frankly, who cares! HAN IS BACK.
Han died at the end of Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, having met his end at the hands of Deckard Shaw. Devoted fans know that even though Tokyo Drift is the third movie released in the franchise, chronologically it takes place between Fast and Furious 6 and Furious 7. At the end of Fast and Furious 6, Gisele sacrifices herself to save Han, and he, heartbroken and lost, retreats to Japan. He then dies as Deckard Shaw takes his revenge for Dom killing his brother Owen.
Also, in addition to adding John Cena to the cast as Dom’s actual brother, which whatever, who cares, Lucas Black is back as Sean! It’s a TOKYO DRIFT REUNION. Charlize Theron also reapers (with a pretty questionable haircut) along with Helen freaking Mirren.

What does Han coming back mean? How could Han possibly be alive when, for three movies, it was pretty much confirmed that he was dead? There’s no point in speculating because logically it doesn’t make any sense. People don’t watch Fast and Furious movies for logic. They watch them for the sheer unreality of it all, and that includes bringing beloved characters back from the dead. The franchise has already done it once before with Letty, after fans campaigned to have Michelle Rodriguez return to the movies. The movie is going to jump through a ton of narrative hoops once again to retcon Han back into the movies, and frankly, fans could not be more excited.
Oh, the Tokyo boys are back…

Me trying to figure out the timeline on how Han is still alive, if he faked his own death or they go back in time, but the timeline doesn't match, then seeing Sean & Earl from Tokyo Drift older but also see Han driving the car he died in. #Fast9 #F9TheFastSaga pic.twitter.com/5AuwJDnBAz
