Texas WR Xavier Worthy projected to emerge as a superstar by 247Sports

Texas WR Xavier Worthy has the makings of college football’s next young superstar.

The Longhorns have a great one on their hands in wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

The soon to be sophomore shattered every record imaginable as a freshman wide receiver at Texas. Along with running back Bijan Robinson, he was one of the few bright spots for a Texas team that majorly underachieved.

Worthy broke three records for a freshman receiver during his first season, as he had the most single-season receptions (62), receiving yards (981) and receiving touchdowns (12) in program history.

His performance and elite speed has garnered national attention, and 247Sports’ Chris Hummer recently included him on his list of 11 players set to emerge as college football superstars.

The scariest thought about Worthy’s success, was the fact that he was doing it with subpar quarterback play, and was essentially being doubled the majority of the time. Now that Texas has Quinn Ewers, and recently added Wyoming receiver Isaiah Neyor, Worthy may have an even bigger season thanks to the added talent around him.

Texas will need him to continue to grow and improve in order to help the program reach its lofty goals of competing nationally.
