The Texas wide receiver room isn’t as proven as last season, but it might be as talent-rich.
The focus of the offseason at receiver has centered around elite prospect Johntay Cook and three impressive portal additions, but the Longhorns have high expectations for second-year player DeAndre Moore.
Moore impressed last spring after enrolling early before his first season in Austin. While last year’s spring game may not have shown what coaches saw from the former four-star prospect, he has all the ability to play significant snaps for Texas at some point.
After the Longhorns added Isaiah Bond (Alabama), Matthew Golden (Houston) and Silas Bolden (Oregon State), Moore appeared to be the odd man out of the team’s top four receivers. But perhaps that underrates Moore’s ability to challenge for playing time.
Moore has another opportunity to make an impression over the next month. We’ll be watching to see how much he’s improved in the spring game.
