The weekend before the early signing period is always a vital one.
This year is no different as Texas will host former five-star Ohio State transfer Quinn Ewers on Saturday, a player who has taken over national headlines with the news of his transfer over the past week.
Ewers is coming off visits to Texas Tech and TCU, and the Red Raiders now appear to be Texas’ biggest competition. New head coach Joey McGuire has made an appealing pitch to Ewers, plus the acquisition of offensive coordinator Zach Kittley and some potential NIL money has gained the attention of the five-star.
Texas will get the chance to host Ewers this weekend on what will likely be his final visit before making a decision. Wide receiver Brenen Thompson, the highest graded commit in Texas’ 2022 recruiting class, will make his way to Austin to join Ewers.

The four-star wide receiver was one of the first recruits to contact Ewers on Twitter after news broke he was entering the portal.

Having these two offensive playmakers on campus together this weekend will benefit the Horns as Thompson will undoubtedly do his best to persuade Ewers to play alongside him at Texas.
