Texas wins Big 12 Track and Field Championships

The Texas Longhorns men’s and women’s track and field teams both won Big 12 Championships on Saturday.

Texas’ men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams won their respective Big 12 Championships on Saturday. It is the first time in six years that a school won both the men’s and women’s championships in the same year.

Here is a list of the events that both Texas teams won.

Men

Shot Put – Adrian Piperi, 68 feet 10.75 inches

1600 Meter Run – Yusuf Bizimana, 4 minutes 5.44 seconds

200 Meter Sprint – Micaiah Harris, 20.38 seconds

4 x 400 Meter Relay (Jon Maas, Micaiah Harris, Charles Brockman III, Willington Wright) – 3 minutes 7.10 seconds

Women

60 Meter Hurdles – Chanel Brissett, 7.90 seconds

60 Meter Dash – Kynnedy Flannel, 7.25 seconds

600 Yard Run – Davicia Patterson, 1 minute, 18.85 seconds

200 Meter Run – Kynnedy Flannel, 22.55 seconds

Women’s High Point Award – Kynnedy Flannel

The men’s team totaled 141 points, eight more than Texas Tech to win the men’s division. The women’s team totaled 154.5 points, 51.5 points more than second place Oklahoma state.

The NCAA indoor track and field National Championships will be from March 12-13 at the University of Arkansas.
