As expected, Texas has dominated Rice in the first half.
It’s mostly been on the ground, as running backs Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson have each had their chance to shine. However, I’m not sure anyone expected the score to be 44-0 at the halftime break.
Robinson concluded the first half with 122 yards and three touchdowns, while Steve Sarkisian and his staff found a way to get speedy wide receiver Xavier Worthy involved as well.
The Longhorns are playing a clean game in all three phases. It’s a critical confidence booster prior to Texas beginning Big 12 play on Sept. 25 against Texas Tech.
Key stats
Bijan Robinson (RB): 12 carries for 122 yards and three touchdowns
Casey Thompson (QB): 14-of-17 for 150 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception
Xavier Worthy (WR): Seven receptions for 88 yards and one touchdown
