Texas vs. Oklahoma: Behind Enemy Lines with Sooners Wire

We went “Behind Enemy Lines” with our friends at Sooners Wire to preview the Red River Rivalry.

Texas and Oklahoma meet in Dallas for the annual Red River Showdown on Saturday.

While neither team is ranked entering this game for the first time since 1998, there is still plenty at stake for each program. Whichever team leaves the Cotton Bowl with the golden hat will stay alive in the Big 12 Conference race as we reach the halfway point of the season.

This will be the first head coaching battle featuring Texas’ Steve Sarkisian and Oklahoma’s Brent Venables in what should be an exciting chess match between the two. Both Sarkisian and Venables are looking for their first win in the historic rivalry.

Texas enters this game as the favorite despite Oklahoma dominating the recent series history. Expect another close game between the Longhorns and Sooners in this year’s ballgame. Eight out of the last nine games in this matchup have been decided by a single possession.

Longhorns Wire got the opportunity to get some insight from an Oklahoma perspective as we went “Behind Enemy Lines” with our friends at Sooners Wire.
