Texas vs. Kansas State: First half recap, RB Bijan Robinson shines

Running back Bijan Robinson recorded two touchdowns in the first half as Texas leads Kansas State.

True freshman running back Bijan Robinson continues to shine as Texas leads Kansas State 31-17 at halftime.

The Longhorns are without several key players in Manhattan due to injury and opt outs, but that hasn’t stopped them from moving the ball at ease against the Wildcats.

Robinson had six carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns in the first half while adding on two receptions for 40 yards. The former five-star recruit is splitting reps in the backfield with Roschon Johnson now that running back Keaontay Ingram is sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Wide receiver Brennan Eagles continues to impress and is Texas’ leading receiver at the half with four receptions for 41 yards. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger has negative yardage on the ground, but remains efficient through the air with 14 of 17 passes completed for 160 yards.

On the defensive side, freshman defensive back Jerrin Thompson is taking advantage of his opportunity due to Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster not playing against Kansas State. Thompson hauled in his first career interception and returned it for 21 yards to set up the score for running back Roschon Johnson late in the first quarter.

Many assumed Texas would be deflated after the heartbreaking loss to Iowa State last week, but that doesn’t look to be the case. Can the Longhorns hold on to their 14-point lead?
