Texas tumbles to No. 5 in newest AP Top 25 ranking

After losing to the Georgia Bulldogs in Austin, the Texas Longhorns plummet to No. 5 in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

At least the Longhorns are ahead of Miami! After failing the pass the SEC big boy test against the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas drops to No. 5 in the newest AP Top 25 ranking. One better than their No. 6 ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll, where they flip spots with Miami.

Texas had a spark in the third quarter, storming out of the halftime locker room to roll off 15 straight points. But the defense, who was on the field a lot in the 30-15 loss, gave up a long 11-play, 89-yard touchdown drive and the game was essentially over.

The Bulldogs, who looked every bit the preseason No. 1, climbed to second in the AP Poll, behind top-ranked Oregon. UGA is also No. 2 in the coaches poll.

Penn State and Ohio State round out the top five. Alabama fell eight spots down to 15th after losing to the Vols, who climbed four spots to No. 7.
