They say lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, but they never said anything about Kurt Wilson.
Texas Tech’s senior utility player and pitcher just became public enemy No. 1 in Austin, Texas, as his efforts this weekend lifted the No. 11 Red Raiders past No. 3 Texas to take the first two games and clinch a series victory in Lubbock.
Friday’s game was deadlocked at four runs at the conclusion of nine innings, and in the bottom of the 10th, Wilson — who was stationed at third base — caught Longhorns pitcher Aaron Nixon napping. With an improbably home-plate steal, TTU walked it off against their in-state rival to take Game 1.

Taking down one of the best teams in the country on a thrilling walk-off is one thing. But the mad lad DID IT AGAIN THE NEXT NIGHT.
Saturday’s Game 2 also went 10 innings, and instead of ending Texas’ hopes and dreams with his legs, Wilson decided to do it with the swing of a bat this time.
Wilson stepped up to the plate with the game tied at 12. He had the bases loaded, but the Red Raiders also had two outs.
Do I even need to tell you what Baseball Houdini did next?

Wilson’s grand slam clinched a series win for Texas Tech, who will almost certainly jump into the top 10 in the rankings next week. It’s been a red-hot start to the season for the Red Raiders, who now sit at 20-4 and will look to sweep the Longhorns in Sunday’s series finale.
One can only imagine what Wilson has in store for us in that game.
