Texas Tech transfer Terrence Shannon Jr. on Friday announced that he has committed to play at the University of Illinois after three seasons with the Red Raiders.
Shannon announced on April 7 that he would not return to Texas Tech next season after entering the transfer portal. He was viewed as one of the top players in the transfer market this year and was said to have received interest from Kentucky and Michigan among other programs.
He averaged 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and two assists per game on 38.4% shooting from 3-point range in 26 games this season. He was named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team after posting 11 points and 2.3 rebounds in three games.

Shannon, who has two seasons of eligibility left, previously tested the NBA pre-draft process last year before returning to Texas Tech. He was viewed by some as a potential second-round pick but will return to college to boost his draft stock for next year.
With Shannon now in the picture, the Illini figure to be among the favorites in the Big Ten next year. They advanced to the Round of 32 this year after posting a 23-10 record.
