Just when we though we had somewhat of an understanding of the Arch Manning saga, another curveball was thrown at us.
The consensus five-star and No. 1 overall player in the class of 2023 has decided to schedule a visit to a school that has not been reported as one of his finalists.
The top schools in Manning’s recruitment seem to be Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, and of course, Texas. National media outlets such as On3 believe that it is a three-horse race between Texas, Georgia, and Alabama for the youngest Manning quarterback.
Manning is reportedly taking a visit to the University of Virginia on Friday, but it is likely not for the reason that Cavalier fans would hope. Manning’s older sister, May, attends Virginia and is a member of their volleyball team, which is likely why Arch will be in attendance.
The Longhorns have hosted Manning five times up to this point, the most of any other program. As it currently stands, Alabama leads the pack with a 34.8% chance of landing him, and Texas is close behind with a 30.6% chance, according to On3.
If Sarkisian can hit on Quinn Ewers, and then follow that up with landing Manning, it could very well be the best passing of the baton in Texas football since Vince Young to Colt McCoy.
