COVID-19 has struck Texas multiple times over the past week. Tuesday’s game against Iowa State and Saturday’s vs. TCU was postponed due to the coronavirus problems within the two programs. It finally affected the Longhorns when head coach Shaka Smart announced he had tested positive on Monday.
Even after dealing with off the court issues, Texas remains ranked inside the top five in the latest AP poll. The Longhorns round out the top five with Gonzaga, Baylor, Villanova, and Michigan ahead of them.
Four other Big 12 schools are in the top 25, with Texas Tech at the backend of the top 10. West Virginia slots in one spot behind the Red Raiders at No. 11 while Kansas falls down to No. 15 after its third consecutive loss to Oklahoma.
The Sooners are rewarded for their home win against the Jayhawks with the No. 24 spot in the poll. Texas and Oklahoma will meet for the first time this season on Tuesday.
