Texas receives several predictions for four-star DT Sydir Mitchell

Texas appears to be in a close battle with Georgia for the 6-foot-5, 335-pound defensive tackle out of New Jersey.

The four most recent 247Sports crystal ball predictions for four-star defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell are in favor of Texas.

Mitchell seemed to be trending toward Georgia for much of his recruitment, but the recent momentum the Longhorns have put together on the recruiting trail has caught his eye.

On Thursday evening, Steve Wiltfong, Brian Dohn, Hudson Standish and Rusty Mansell each entered a prediction for Mitchell in favor of Texas. Mansell is a Georgia insider, signaling that the Longhorns have likely surpassed the Bulldogs in this recruitment.

Mitchell is rated the No. 4 overall prospect in New Jersey for the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 45 defensive tackle in the country, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

As a junior in 2021, Mitchell recorded 40 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. His 6-foot-5, 335-pound physical stature is exactly what Texas needs along their defensive line.

This will be a massive recruitment to watch over the coming weeks.
