Texas receives four crystal ball predictions for TCU pass rusher Ochaun Mathis

The crystal balls for Ochaun Mathis to Texas are pouring in.

Texas may be in line to add a major addition to their defensive line via the transfer portal.

Rumors have been swirling of former TCU head coach Gary Patterson likely joining Texas’ coaching staff in some capacity, and one day after the school posted a job opening of his potential role with the program, the Horned Frogs lost their top pass rusher to the transfer portal.

Ochuan Mathis, who earned second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2020 and 2021, announced via Twitter that he will be entering the transfer portal and looking to finish his career elsewhere.

While those only added fuel to the Patterson to Texas fire, Longhorns fans have another reason to be optimistic, as Mathis has now received four crystal ball predictions in favor of Texas.

This would address a major need for the Longhorns, as generating a consistent pass rush was just not something that the defense was capable of last season, with Ben Davis leading the team in sacks with 2.5.

Mathis finished this past season with four, as the TCU defense as a whole struggled, but he has a career 15.5 sacks and would give the Texas front an experienced pass rusher to lead the team.

After missing out on multiple top level transfers, things seem to be looking up for Texas.
