No. 4 Texas could be without its starting running back in Week 3.
Freshman running back Cedric Baxter Jr. has dealt with a variety of injuries during his short career thus far. In Texas’ season opener against Rice, Baxter exited the game with a rib injury.
He returned to practice the following week and was ready to go against Alabama in Week 2. However, the camera angle caught Baxter limping off of the field in what appeared to be a foot injury after the Longhorns defeated the Crimson Tide, 34-24.
Third-year head coach Steve Sarkisian did not mention exactly what the injury was, but that Baxter would be day-to-day at practice ahead of Week 3. On Thursday, Sarkisian provided an update to the media that Baxter would be a game-time decision vs. Wyoming.
With plenty of depth at running back, Sarkisian would likely feel comfortable resting Baxter this week if needed.
Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian said freshman running back Cedric Baxter Jr. will be a game time decision for Saturday's game vs. Wyoming.
