Four-star quarterback Devin Brown decommitted from USC on Wednesday.
It’s very promising news for the Texas Longhorns, who have emerged as a potential landing spot for one of the nation’s top quarterback prospects. Brown is rated the No. 5 quarterback in the 2022 class and the No. 1 overall prospect from the state of Utah, according to 247Sports composite.
His recruitment began to skyrocket after an impressive senior campaign for Corner Canyon High School, where he threw for 4,881 yards and 57 touchdowns in 14 games, setting a state record for most passing yards in a single season.
Texas officially extended an offer to Brown on Oct. 18, and he’s quickly become one of the highest priority targets on their board.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has made it clear that he would like to add another quarterback to the 2022 cycle. The Longhorns had the opportunity to host Brown for an official visit during the Kansas game on Nov. 13, but he’s also taken official visits to Ohio State and Ole Miss recently.
According to 247Sports, Ole Miss and Texas are expected to visit Brown for an in-home meeting on Sunday when the contact period opens up.
