When Quinn Ewers transferred to Texas, the expectations from fans were through the roof. The expectations from the quarterback himself may have been even higher.
However, the former five-star didn’t quite light it up in 2022, though he threw for over 2,100 yards, 15 touchdowns and six picks while completing 58% of his passes. Ewers struggled with accuracy on the deep ball, and when Texas needed him to throw a lot he didn’t have much success. The Longhorns went 2-3 when he attempted more than 30 passes.
Heading into 2023, the situation appears to be different for Ewers in many ways. He has chopped his signature mullet, transformed physically and has matured since his first season. Ewers has learned from his shaky first season, and revealed at Big 12 media days what last year taught him.

Ewers explained he let the outside noise affect him more than he should have, and essentially he got in his own head. He wasn’t used to handling losses on the field, since he was quite accomplished in high school.
Texas fans should be thrilled to learn their quarterback has grown and learned from his mistakes, since they have some lofty expectations for the Longhorns in 2023.
