Texas QB Quinn Ewers calls Michigan football ‘team up north’ at SEC media days

Texas may be 1-0 against Michigan football in history, but never forget, Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is 0-1 against the Wolverines.

Ewers came to Ann Arbor as a freshman quarterback for rival Ohio State in 2021 before subsequently transferring to Texas the following year. So, apparently, despite Ewers being a Texas native, you can take the boy out of the Buckeyes, but you can’t take the Buckeye out of the boy.

On Wednesday, at SEC media days, Ewers was asked about UT’s Week 2 game at Michigan, and while he had a nice response, he utilized one of OSU’s rallying cries.

“Going up to The Big House, yeah — it’s gonna be an awesome environment,” Ewers said. “The place is gonna be rocking. Especially all of the hype because it’s an early game. And they’re coming off of a really big win — the national championship. Yeah, the team up north.”

He’s not exactly wrong, as Ann Arbor is a bit north of Austin. It may not exactly be bulletin board material, but it may be good enough for the Wolverines to conjure a shoulder chip in a game where there won’t be much added motivation.
