Over the last past week Texas quarterback Arch Manning has been making headlines in a major way.
And no it’s not because he has won the starting quarterback job or will be transferring because of where he is on the depth chart, it’s because of an NIL deal. Something that he initially wasn’t going to partake in until he was the starter, but he did so for a good cause.
Manning recently inked his first NIL deal with trading card company Panini America who over the past week held an auction for a one-of-one “Prizm black” Manning signed card. As you could imagine the price for the card skyrocketed immediately, and according to a report by ESPN was the highest selling card through Panini America’s website surpassing a one-of-one Luka Doncic card. The bidding ended at $103,000.
All of the proceeds from the sale will go to a Central Texas non-profit with the help of St. David’s HealthCare and St. David’s Foundation in Austin, Texas.
The No. 1 overall recruit has yet to take a real snap as a Longhorn, and likely won’t need to unless Texas has a large lead or injuries ravage the quarterback room. However, clearly people are still excited to see what the nephew of Peyton and Eli is capable of.
Assuming Manning lives up to the hype of his uncles, his card’s value will only continue to rise.
