The Longhorns kicked off their first spring practice on Tuesday.
Most eyes were understandably drawn to former Ohio State quarterback Quinn Ewers in a Texas jersey, but second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian also provided the media with many important nuggets once practice concluded.
One of the more important aspects of spring football is for players to remain healthy. Anwar Richardson of Rivals reported that wide receiver Troy Omeire and linebacker Luke Brockermeyer won’t take part in spring practices, while a few others are expected to return at a later date.
Today is the first day of Texas spring football practice Troy Omeire (knee) and Luke Brockermeyer (knee) are expected to miss this spring. Jaden Alexis (knee) and Maalik Murphy (foot) are expected to miss multiple practices but return at some point this spring

Omeire has all the potential in the world to be a standout playmaker at Texas, but unfortunately knee injuries have derailed his playing career since he stepped on campus. He has yet to appear in a game and the Longhorns are hopeful that he will be able to participate in fall camp.
Brockermeyer is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered at the end of last season. It’s not surprising to see him miss spring practices as he continues to rehab.
Freshman quarterback Maalik Murphy has been battling an ankle injury that does not appear to be long-term, and the same can be said for wide receiver Jaden Alexis’ knee injury.
