Iowa State offensive lineman Jarrod Hufford ruffled the feathers of many Texas fans and players on Tuesday evening.
Hufford spoke with the media ahead of No. 7 Texas’ matchup with Iowa State this week. The left guard didn’t hold back, stating the Longhorns don’t know what is going to be coming for them, that their egos need to be checked, and claiming the Cyclones are going to give them “one heck of a farewell present.”
Texas hasn’t performed well in Ames as of recently, losing four of the last five contests. That could explain some of the confidence in Hufford’s voice. However, this is a different Texas team than years past and Hufford just gave the Longhorns bulletin board material along with extra motivation.
Steve Sarkisian’s squad has everything to play for this week. A win over Iowa State essentially assures Texas a spot in the Big 12 Championship game and of course a College Football Playoff berth is still on the line.
Here’s how Texas fans and players reacted to Hufford’s comments on Tuesday.
